Writing

I enjoy writing about archaeology in a way that is accessible to a wide range of audiences. I believe that archaeological research is for everybody, not just the scientific community. However, having written a doctoral thesis, I also recognise the need for scholarly writing in its own right. Whether it is scientific articles, popular science, coffee table volumes or children's books - I can offer writing for all levels and audiences. If you would like to commission a text please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Translating

Like other specialised subjects, archaeology and palaeoanthropology have their own unique jargon, their terminology and specific expressions and cultural references. As a native German speaker and having "grown up" in the British archaeological discourse, I am in the unique position to be fluent in both English and German archaeological writing. I can translate texts pitched at different audiences and of varying lengths, from short article introductions to whole books. Please contact me for a quote.

Proofreading

English is the main language of publication in archaeology just as in other disciplines, and publishers expect articles to be submitted in English. Yet most publishers of archaeological journals cannot and do not offer proofreading, instead expecting their authors to submit publication-ready material. Working together with my partner, who is a native English speaker, we offer proofreading of English-language archaeological texts, mainly to German academics wishing to publish in international journals. Please contact me to discuss your requirements, whether you need basic proofreading for spelling and punctuation, or whether you require more extensive text work including advice on style and textual consistency.
